Saw every doctor, every specialist, had every test...NO RESULTS MRI/Orthopedist/Neurologist/Acupuncture/Laser/X rays/Bloodwork etc...they just could not figure out what was wrong with Arielle or get any long lasting results. She did better on the meds, but when the meds were taken away, she regressed. For OVER ONE YEAR she walked with all her pressure on her front legs. Lucy the cat with IBD (Irritable Bowel Disease) Mom, Amy, was at a loss. After looking into holistic options and discussing things with her vet, she decided to visit us at the Greenfield Veterinary Hospital. In only a few visits Lucy's meds are significantly reduced, and she is doing much better. "I do not even know where to begin. In the words of Winnie The Pooh, "At the beginning." Let me first say Dr. Mike is beyond AMAZING!!! They don't get any better than him!!! I trust him IMPLICITLY!!! Backstory: I was at a total loss and heartbroken over the recent diagnosis of IBD (irritable bowel disease) for my cat Lucy. Lucy is not your average, ordinary cat. Lucy is special. I know, I know, everyone claims to have the perfect, most special pet. However, Lucy IS a very special and unique creature. I cannot even say cat. Lucy was a rescue I took in. No one wanted Lucy. She was in a shelter where I volunteered. She followed me everywhere. I already had five rescue cats and my husband said "no more." However, every day I went in to the shelter, Lucy followed me EVERYWHERE. She was my shadow. She was such a pathetic looking little thing. She weighed maybe 3 pounds, and leaked stufff from EVERY orifice. No one would adopt Lucy. I could not handle the images and her face in my head one more night as I tried to fall asleep. I adopted Lucy. From the moment I brought her into my home until this very second, even at her sickest, she has NEVER failed to show me gratitude. She is my heart. I was devastated with the news that she had IBD. How much more was this special little creature supposed to endure? I was reluctant to have the scope done on her, but needed to get an answer to her obvious suffering. After the diagnosis of IBD, she was put on steroids. Even though it was a mild, relatively low dose of steroid, it was still a steroid. I did not want my cat living on medicines. I wanted better. After discussing things with my vet and trusted pet sitter, I enlisted the help of Dr. Mike. AMAZING!!!! I was speechless after the first visit. I noticed a visible difference in Lucy IMMEDIATELY!!! From the first visit to the last, Dr. Mike understood the problem and had an outline for a course of action that would HEAL Lucy. All I have been praying for is that she is healed. She is on a much lower dose of the steroid, and I just put in another call to the vet to see if it can again be lowered, with the goal of lowest possible dose, hoping for none at all. He has done this all over the course of a few visits. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mike. When no one else knows whats wrong, Dr. Savko comes to the rescue! 3 weeks of chasing symptoms with all sorts of drugs, considering MRI and surgery. No results. No idea what was going on. Sophie had surgery to remove a fatty tumor on the back of her neck. Here is Betsy's story: "A friend borrowed Betsy, my bearded dragon lizard, to take into her classroom. She was teaching a lesson about reptiles. On the way to bring Betsy home, my friend was in a car accident. The accident jolted Betsy pretty badly causing her to have a fractured skull. Betsy could not turn her head to the left. Therefore, if I placed her food in that direction she would see and smell the food, but would turn in the total wrong direction. It was frustrating for her, and it also kept her from eating. Laryngeal Paralysis, 12yo, male, lab named Chocky Heavy breathing and hacking especially with eating, very slow to get around, would not get in car or go up on couch, could not jump. Well, this photo is Chocky after a few visits, outside, hanging in the driveway! FHO surgery on 10/20/17. Leg still dragging over 2 months later. Femoral head osteotomy, also referred to as a femoral head ostectomy or FHO, is the surgical removal of the head and neck of the femur. In simpler terms, it is the removal of the “ball” part of the ball-and-socket that makes up the hip joint. Wilber is a 2 year old beagle that was looking to get adopted from Midwest BREW (Beagle Rescue, Education and Welfare) . They wanted to get him in better shape, in the hopes he would find his forever home. One of the veterinarians that Dr. Savko works with saw Wilber's post surgical condition and thought that by getting Dr. Savko involved we might be able to help Wilber get better. In just one visit Wilber was bearing more weight, after 2 visits he was putting "much more weight on the leg". Within one month Wilber was not only able to use the leg, he was RUNNING! He found his HOME shortly afterwards! There is a strong possibility Wilber may still be in the foster home and still limping if this vet had not made the referral to Dr. Savko. Heart problem and fluid build up in lungs Mom, Mary was told Zar only had few days to live, and after thousands of dollars and many hours in the hospital, that there was nothing they could figure out or do, and he should be put down immediately. Zar lived WELL for over a year after seeing Dr. Savko! "My dog Zar during his yearly checkup was found to have an issue with his heart and fluid buildup in his lungs. My vet told me he had days to live, Zar was only 4 years old, my vet sent me to a local specialty/emergency clinic. Zar had his lungs drained but the fluid got so bad his eyelids filled with water, he looked like a monster. A friend of ours recommended Dr. Savko. Read on to see how powerful a visit with us can be: "For those of you that own a dog who has back problems, keep reading. For those of you that own a dog that COULD have the potential to have back problems, keep reading. I have two dachshunds, Knox and Dezzy. Like most dachshunds, Knox is crazy and likes to jump off of things, even when we aren't looking and we THINK we have everything blocked off. Before Thanksgiving, Knox started to limp. We noticed he was walking really slow, wouldn't put his head up much and would just cry for no reason. When we would pick him up, he would cry for minutes on end. It was agonizing to watch and to hear him in so much pain. We took him to the vet right away. The vet dosed him up on all kinds of pain meds, did an x-ray of his neck and told us that there was a suspicious area in his neck. She recommended we take him to a Pittsburgh emergency hospital where he should see a dog neurologist and get an MRI. She recommended that we crate him until further notice. We went home that night thinking the worst. What if he has to have back surgery? Should we take him to get the MRI? Should we take him to get looked at by a neurologist? Dachshunds are known to have back problems and right away we thought knew if we took him to this emergency vet, we would be spending thousands. We decided to crate him and wait a few days. In the meantime, I started researching like crazy. Kerry and I have practiced holistic medicine and essentials oils for a long time. I just kept thinking, what if there is another alternative? 17 year old poodle named Star is 80% improved after just one visit with Dr. Savko, previously she could barely walk due to weakness and loss of balance.
